| Recent MIC Accomplishments |
- Helped secure $270 million in funding for recreational trails for the next 6 years.
- Completed a $260,000, 12 month Comprehensive Motorcycle Owner Survey through a probability sample of 1,500 telephone interviews.
- Continued to fuel industry growth through Discover Today’s Motorcycling, including segments on ABC’s World News Tonight with Peter Jennings and CNN.
- Saved MIC members and retailers over $500,000 in 1998 through their participation in the MIC BankCard Processing Program.
- Expanded the Retail Sales Report to include 12 brands, or over 99% of industry sales.
- Distributed over 1,200 MIC Membership Directories worldwide to expand business-to-business opportunities for MIC member companies.
- Saved more than 120 members $31,000 in rebates from Advanstar Expositions for exhibiting at the Dealernews International Powersports Dealer and Distributor Expos in Indianapolis and Las Vegas.
- Helped champion access to public lands for responsible OHV recreation by providing over $40,000 in grants to the Blue Ribbon Coalition and other organizations from the MIC’s OHV Organization Support Program in the past year.
- Led the industry effort in 1998 to convince the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to adopt a more reasonable on-highway emissions standard than the extremely stringent standard proposed.
- Convinced CARB to adopt a simpler, less costly test procedure in 1998 for certifying off-highway aftermarket parts.
- Served on a CARB OHV Recreational Committee to open 85 public land riding areas during designated times for motorcycles and ATVs not meeting CARB’s off-highway emissions standards.
- Reached an all-time membership high of 307 in 2004, creating additional funds and support for industry growth activities.
